Iva Coaldheart

What is the significance of your name and number?

Spent a lot of time in Newcastle, England, known for coal mining. My former home team, Tucson Copper Queens had a mining theme.

And I'm originally from Maine, where it's really cold. I don't do well in the heat.

What is your athletic background?

Competitive swimmer. Ski and snowboard. Play soccer, badly.

What do you enjoy during your downtime? Outside interests?

Cooking, traveling, horror, art, hiking, camping, spending time with friends.

Are there any life lessons that you’ve learned playing roller derby?

Like everyone, derby saved my soul. I am a completely better, and different person from it. It has helped me to become the person I always wanted to be, but never thought I was capable of being.

Dislikes? What drives you crazy?

No bugs! I absolutely freak out when bugs are near me.

I dislike and avoid computers as much as possible. Demon boxes cannot be trusted.

Other peoples mouth/ eating noises is incredibly irritating. Like nails on a chalkboard to me.

What is your hometown?

Originally born in Richmond, Maine. Grew up as a navy brat, so I've lived everywhere! Lived the longest in Mystic, CT and Tucson, AZ.

What is your motto, favorite quotes, or words to live by?

It is what it is

Not my monkey. Not my circus.

The serenity prayer.

The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching. –Anson Dorrance

What are the top 3 items on your bucket list?

Act in a horror movie.

Join the circus.

Be a mom.
