Geneva Conviction or “Convict”

What is the significance of your skate name and number?

I had a really hard time coming up with a skate name.  Geneva Conviction is a play off the Geneva Convention, but obviously I don't give fair treatment to my "prisoners".  Everyone in the league calls me Convict (since I'm really hard core like that).

How did you get started playing roller derby?

I went to my first bout in February of 2010 and was hooked ever since.  I had a friend go see a bout in Chicago and called me to tell me that I had to check it out in Las Vegas.

How long have you been skating?

In March 2012 I will have been skating for 2 years.

What is your favorite derby position?

This is a tough one.  I love them all for different reasons.  I love the rush of jamming and knowing that you are the target for that jam and all eyes are on you.  However, blocking was my first position, and I will always love containing a girl for so long that she gets completely worn out and of course laying a girl out with a sweet hip hit.

What is your greatest derby achievement so far?

My greatest derby achievement so far would have to be getting voted MVP of the Season 6 Travel Team season.  I felt so honored and it was a fantastic season.

What is your favorite part of skating with Sin City Rollergirls?

My favorite part of skating with the Sin City Rollergirls is all the awesome people that I get to meet that I otherwise wouldn't.  I have made some life-long friends in this league and it great to know that there are other strong, athletic women in the world that have high expectations of themselves and want to be a part of something so inspiring.

Do you have a derby crush? Who is it?

Hmm...there are way too many to list, but I think it is a tossup between Urrk'n Jerk'n from Rocky Mountain Rollergirls and Bonnie Thunders from Gotham.  Both of these women amaze me with what they are able to do on the track.

What is your day job?

I am a School Psychologist working with kids in elementary and middle schools.

Who is the biggest influence in your life?

My biggest influence in my life would have to be my parents.  They are the most amazing people I know and are so supportive of me.  I would not be the person I am without them (I mean obviously because they created me).

What is the strangest thing in your purse or wallet right now?

Probably a bottle of Tums because I have to eat them like candy.

Tell us one thing about yourself that we wouldn't expect...

Well most people don't expect me to tell them that I play roller derby, but since you already know that I would say that you probably wouldn't expect that I have my Master's Degree and have ran 2 full marathons.
