Bust’N Ace 777

What is the significance of your name and number?

I was born and raised in Vegas so I wanted something that was somewhat symbolic! My favorite # has always been 7, and since it’s really good to hit 777 on slots I went w that! As for my name, man, I thought I’d never sleep again! That was really tough and so many good names were taken! Again sticking w the Vegas theme, and my love for aces (hehe) I came up with Bust’N Ace!

How did you get started playing roller derby?

Honestly I got divorced, and all of a sudden I had time for me for once! I used to speed skate and since there is no speed skating in Vegas anymore, I Googled skating in Vegas and SCRG popped up! Freshies was starting 2 weeks later and so it begun!

How long have you been skating!

I started speed skating at 13 and skated until I was 24! Started a family and 10 years later I got back on my skates and I’ve been playing derby now for a year and half! So I guess all in all, almost 13 wonderful years!

What is your favorite derby position to play?

Starting derby w a speed skating background I thought I would be a great jammer! Turns out I’m a much better blocker! I love both though and my jamming seems to be getting better! I like being a well-rounded player!

What is your greatest derby achievement so far?

Making travel team my first year was awesome, and being voted best blocker for our amazingly talented team was a huge high for me, however, I was just asked to be an Atom All-Star …so that definitely tops my list right now!

What is your favorite part of skating with Sin City Rollergirls?

The comradery is what makes our team so special, but I’m very competitive, so the fact that our girls are also, is what I love the most!! SCRG, U KNOW!

Do you have a derby crush? Who is it?

I admire Atomatrix! I used to speed skate against her back in the day and I know her level of commitment and athletic ability. She is always positive and gives a 110%! She’s always willing to coach and help to better our sport! Truly inspirational!

What is your day job?

I work at Bears Best Golf Course! I drive a beverage cart (yes I’m the beer bitch); I also serve food and drinks for weddings and parties! Glamorous I know!

Who is the biggest influence in your life?

My dad! He never quits! He is always there for me and anyone else who needs help! His knowledge is amazing! His heart is huge! I love u dad!

What is the strangest thing in your purse or wallet right now?

Boring, but once I got through all the coupons and bobby pins; I’d have to say my son’s rubber bands for his braces! I just cleaned my purse out yesterday!! Happens once or twice a year! Haha Really!!

Tell us one thing about yourself that we wouldn’t expect…

I was a silver medalist at the 1998 X Games in the Inline Downhill.
