What is the significance of your name and number?
Significance of my derby name and number: The first thing that people notice about me is my height. I wanted my derby name to be something related to that. I was in a rush to come up with a number, so I just used my height 6’3″ .
How did you get started playing roller derby?
When I lived in Springfield, Missouri the girlfriend of a co-worker was involved in the league there. She invited me to come to a practice to watch. I fell in love immediately and was on skates for the next practice.
How long have you been skating?
I have been skating for four years total. One year with my old league and one three years with Sin City.
What is your favorite derby position to play?
My favorite position to play is blocker.
What is your greatest derby achievement so far?
I don’t really have one specific achievement. Playing derby is an achievement in itself. This sport has me doing things that I never thought I could do.
Do you have a derby crush? Who is it?
My derby crush is Mercy from Rose City. She is a taller skater (Although I am STILL taller than her) I try to study her techniques as a blocker.
What is your day job?
I am a Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools, the nation’s leading dropout prevention program. I case manage high school students and my goal is to help eliminate barriers that might keep them from graduating.
Who is the biggest influence in your life?
My dad is my biggest influence. He is supportive, the best listener, and my biggest derby fan =).
What is the strangest thing in your purse or wallet right now?
I don’t carry a purse. And my wallet just has a bunch of random cards… So I’d say the strangest one is the tax exempt card for Smart and Final?
Tell us one thing about yourself that we wouldn’t expect?
I love tattoos and piercings. People are often surprised when they see the up close the number of tattoos I have. I want several more, and dermal piercings are next on my list.
