However, don’t let her sweet demeanor fool you.
She’ll be the first to throw hard hits on the track while jamming through the pack or blocking the opposing jammer.
Nita started playing roller derby four years ago when a friend mentioned the Sin City Rollergirls.
Since lacing up her skates, Nita’s skated for SCRG’s C-Team and is also a member of the Flying Aces.
Though she’s primarily a blocker she said she has a love-hate relationship with jamming.
“I want to continue working on becoming a more agile jammer,” she said.
For Nita, coming up with her roller derby name and number wasn’t difficult.
“My number is my son’s birthday, which is June 9th,” she said. “As for my name, I picked it because I wanted a tough name I could grow into.”
Nita said one of her most memorable moments since playing roller derby so far was receiving her first Most Valuable Player award.
She attributes gaining confidence in her skating and game knowledge as some of her personal accomplishments as a roller derby player thus far.
Something you might not know about Nita?
“The second job that I ever had was a roller rink DJ,” she said.
Outside of roller derby, you might see Nita tearing it up on stage singing karaoke.
In the future, she has a lot of hopes for the Sin City Rollergirls.
“I really want SCRG to become a household name,” she said. “We have so much to offer the community and it’s time to let people know we’re here.”
